Can a new heatsink like the Noctua cause the bending of pins due to strong clamp force? Again, I made sure to stop turning the screw as soon as it tightened up. I make sure to screw just enough without over-tightening.ĥ) One thing I did notice that was different, or I may have not caught it the last time I reseated my CPU was a bent PIN. I have recently reapplied thermal paste with the Hyper 212 EVO and I had no issues.

No funny business of thermal paste oozing out into CPU socket.Ĥ) I did carefully seat the CPU like I always do. I guess there's a first! I'm on hardwood floor, I am sure to touch an object to ground myself all the time.ģ) Thermal paste and everything else looks good on the CPU. Both sticks work, but only in slots 3 and 4.Ģ) What would cause swapping out a Heatsink to damage the motherboard? Did I short something? In the 15 years of building PCs, I have never shorted a PC. The Corsair RAM seems to be in working order.

I swapped around the Corsair Vengeance (2x8GB) RAM in different slots, testing them by using a single stick of RAM. Until I decided to swap out my Hyper 212 EVO with a Noctua NH-U12S.ġ) RAM slots 1 and 2 died.
#Problem with hyper 212 evo install Pc
I have a two-year old PC and everything was working perfectly with no signs of degradation or bluescreens indicating something wrong with my PC.
